Chongshan Feng 冯崇珊
Chongshan Feng (b. 2000) is an visual artist and silversmith from China. Influenced by childhood experien ces of migration and life in factory environments, her practice focuses on surfaces, industrially m anufactured objects, and marginal landscapes.
Drawing on the concept of texture mapping from digital modelling, she brings this approach into material practice to examine the separation between material identity and surface in everyday en vironments, and the instability that emerges from this condition. Working from this perspective, s he extensively employs surface treatment techniques derived from manufacturing industries, interveni ng in the surfaces of existing objects and causing familiar forms to shift toward ambiguity and uncertainty.
Through a research-led mode of practice, her work is situated within contemporary discussions ar ound post-craft, manufacturing systems, and questions of surface.
She also works collaboratively as a member of Tajo Studio.
