2023
rubber, stainless steel, artificial peals
Technique: Metalsmithing; woodworking; casting
Variable size
Growing up, I was deeply impacted by the memory of my mother’s body being repeatedly examined and regulated under China’s constantly shifting family planning policies. Countless bodies, like a hallway covered in advertising seals—gradually become an open public space.
In the Body Seal project, I designed a series of objects that sit between tools and craftworks. Through interactions with the audience, these objects continually challenge and intrude upon the body, ultimately leaving behind unreadable marks of censorship.
